What QuickBooks Online actually is
QuickBooks Online (QBO), built by Intuit, is a cloud accounting platform used in over 170 countries, Thailand included. Its headline strength is multi-currency support across 145+ currencies, which suits anyone billing clients and paying suppliers across borders. The Solopreneur tier — QBO's entry point for freelancers — starts around $20/month at global list pricing; in Thailand it's typically resold through local partners at roughly 600–2,000 baht/month depending on the package.
What it genuinely does well
- Deep multi-currency handling and financial reporting, a real advantage for freelancers billing mostly US, European, or Australian clients.
- The widest app ecosystem and integration library of any mainstream accounting tool.
- If you've already used QBO abroad or in a past job, you can start working immediately — no new system to learn.
Where it struggles once you're actually filing in Thailand
- No built-in format for a proper Thai tax invoice, receipt, or quotation that matches Revenue Department requirements — you're customizing templates yourself or bolting on an add-on.
- No automatic withholding tax calculation or WHT certificate (50 ทวิ) generation — a document nearly every Thai freelancer needs to hand clients and collect from them.
- No support for e-Tax Invoice by Email or e-Tax Invoice & e-Receipt, so that data has to be exported and finished somewhere else.
- No PromptPay QR on invoices, which makes it slower for Thai clients to actually pay you.
- The interface is English-first, and local reseller pricing usually runs above the advertised global rate.
MANA is built to speak Thai paperwork from day one
MANA isn't competing on currency count or app-store breadth. It's built around the documents and tax mechanics a Thai freelancer deals with every month: quotations, invoices, and receipts formatted to match Revenue Department requirements; automatic withholding tax calculation with 50 ทวิ certificates; e-Tax Invoice generation and delivery from inside the app; PromptPay QR embedded directly on invoices so clients can pay on the spot; and bank statement reconciliation that matches payments to invoices automatically.
Which one fits you
If almost all of your clients are overseas, you're invoicing in multiple currencies regularly, and you already know QBO, it can still work — just budget extra time to handle Thai tax paperwork as a separate step. If most of your clients are Thai, or you have overseas clients but still have to file and issue documents under Thai rules either way, MANA removes that extra translation step entirely.
