MANA vs SMEMOVE: cheaper isn't the same as a better fit — compared by the work you actually do

SMEMOVE comes up constantly when Thai freelancers look for document software, and for an obvious reason: it's cheap and it's complete. Here's a straight comparison of who each product actually suits.

What SMEMOVE does well

SMEMOVE is a Thai online accounting platform for SMEs, and its strengths are real.

If your goal is "issue correct Thai documents and hand data to my bookkeeper, as cheaply as possible", SMEMOVE serves that well and we won't pretend otherwise.

What MANA does well

MANA isn't competing in the accounting software category. MANA is a workspace for a solo freelancer or a very small team, where documents are the end of the work rather than the work itself.

MANA's pricing: Free, Mana at THB 290/month or 2,900/year, Aether at THB 890/month or 8,900/year.

The part worth saying plainly

MANA costs more than SMEMOVE's entry plans. We have no general ledger, no automatic period close, no payroll, no POS, and no RD Prep export.

If those are what you need, SMEMOVE gives you more for less. That's simply true.

What MANA gives instead is context. Your documents don't float in a documents module — they're attached to the work that produced them. For someone whose real problem is "where did this job get to, and did we ever get paid", that difference is worth more than a module count.

Choosing in 30 seconds

Two questions.

What eats the most of your time? If the answer is producing documents and closing books for an accountant, go SMEMOVE. If it's remembering which client owes what and where each job stands, go MANA.

Do you work with a bookkeeper? If you do, and they work from files exported out of accounting software, SMEMOVE removes more friction. If you handle everything yourself and file as an individual, most of that accounting depth goes unused.

Plenty of freelancers could reasonably run both. But if you're picking one, pick for the work you do every day, not the work you do once a year.

Pricing and features are drawn from SMEMOVE's public website at the time of writing. Packages change — check their current pricing page before deciding.
